Hi ladies and Gentlemen welcome back to my blog. In this blog I am going to write about the 4th theme park built at Walt Disney World, Animal Kingdom.

Animal Kingdom is a zoological theme park that opened on April 22nd, 1998. Construction on this park began in 1990. Disney Imagineers travelled to Africa and Asia to study landscapes and wildlife in order to ensure their design was life like. Construction included building exhibits, animal holding areas, planting large numbers of plants, and creating dark rides and animatronics.
The park consists of 7 different lands. This are:
Oasis
Discovery Island
Pandora
Dinoland USA
Africa
Asia
Rafiki’s Planet Watch
Each land has different attractions and restaurant to go with each theme of the land.

I am going to write about my 3 favourite rides and restaurants at Animal Kingdom. As I haven’t visited Pandora yet, I am unable to write about any of the attractions or restaurants in this area.

So first let’s talk attractions. My 3rd favourite attraction is Kali River Rapids. Kali River Rapids is based in Asia. This ride has great theming throughout the whole ride experience with a great ride system to boot. Expect to get very very wet.

My 2nd favourite attraction is Kilimanjaro Safaris. The attraction is a short photo safari aboard a safari vehicle through the Harambe Wildlife Reserve in Harambe, East Africa. It is 800 square miles (2,100 km2) of natural terrain, including Ituri forest, wetlands of the Safi River valley, and the open bush country of the Serengeti Savanna. African animals on view include real live elephants, giraffes, antelopes, gazelles, crocodiles, monkeys, hippopotamuses, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, African wild dogs, warthogs, ostriches, rhinoceroses, ducks, storks, pelicans, flamingos, wildebeests, okapis and zebras. The game driver points out animals and provides entertainment on the drive through the attraction. The zebras were removed four months after their arrival due to “acclimation” issues. Some reports claim that the zebras were fighting each other, biting at vehicles or each other, standing in the road, or just causing trouble. They were quickly replaced with addax. Recently, the zebras have been reinstated, and can be viewed during the safari. This is Truly an amazing attraction to behold. The best time of day to get on this ride is first thing in the morning as the park opens or at dusk, now the park stays open later into the evening.

My Favourite attraction at animal kingdom is Expedition Everest: legend of the forbidden mountain. The whole experience of this ride from the queue line to the ride itself is incredible. The ride takes you on a journey up in to mount Everest where you find the tracks has been ripped up by a yeti. What comes next trying to get back down the mountain going frontwards and backwards in my opinion, makes this rollercoaster the best ride in the whole of Walt Disney World.

I only have 1 restaurants that I want to write about here as it’s the only one I have been to. I have been to this one on many occasions and I love it. Before I write about this place I want to give a few honourable mentions to a couple of other restaurants that I have been told are amazing. These are Tiffin’s, Nomad lounge and Rainforest café. These give various options for fantastic dining.

So, the Restaurant I want to write about is Tusker House. Tusker House is an African themed restaurant that serves buffet styled meals. So there should be something for everyone! They also have character dinning here during meals with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy the main Characters. Plenty of photo opportunities for the younger members of your group or those Disney nuts. This is such an amazing place to eat and relax and the food here is lovely. I have eaten here a couple of times now and I am sure I will eat here again in the future.

Pandora – The World of Avatar is themed to the fictional alien exoplanetary moon, Pandora, from James Cameron’s Avatar series. The land’s marquee attraction is Avatar Flight of Passage, a 3D augmented reality flight simulator that allows guests to fly on a banshee across the Pandoran landscape. Another attraction, the Na’vi River Journey, is a boat ride that takes guests through Pandora’s bioluminescent rainforests. The area opened on May 27th 2017, which is why I haven’t been yet!

As Animal Kingdom is a zoological park, one of the aims is to engage in research and conservation efforts involving many of the parks species. Since the opening of the park in 1998, the elephant and giraffe herds have produced 11 calves between them. Also, since the opening of the park there has been 8 white rhinos born at the park. As a result, the park and the amazing staff have facilitated the re- introduced white rhinos back in to the wild in the Uganda’s ziwa animal sanctuary. I am sure that you will all agree that this was a fantastic achievement.

I Hope you all enjoyed this edition of my blog on The Animal Kingdom.

Please keep giving The Mouse and His Pals all your support. It is really appreciated.

My first experience at a Disney park was at euro Disney in 1993 I was 4 years old at the time. I don’t remember much of the holiday, but I do remember being at breakfast one morning and Pluto licking my face. My Hobbies include playing football and cricket as well as watching many other sports, my main interest is Disney as a whole. My interests peaked in Disney a couple of years ago while battling severe depression, listening to a few Disney podcasts and doing loads of research about the company and the parks help me out as it gave me something to focus my time and energy on.
