Dodson, Terry. Mr. and Mrs. X 1. New York, 27 July 18AD.

Marvel Preview: July 22nd –  28th

A huge week for Marvel. Off the heels of San Diego Comic Con, the company has a lot of momentum at the moment and they are doing everything they can to capitalize on it. Bringing out a slew of new number ones and having the second issue of a bunch of new titles, Marvel is striking while the iron is hot. Mr. and Mrs. X hits shelves, hot off the heels of the bait and switch during the Kitty Pryde and Colossus wedding. Also, another X book releases, Wakanda Forever rolls on and Infinity Wars goes Prime. Let’s look at the week in Marvel.

Mr. and Mrs X #1 – Thompson/Bazaldua

Well, the marriage that everyone saw coming didn’t happen and the one no one thought would happen did. Mr. and Mrs. X , or Gambit and Rouge as we know them, tied the knot in a surprise twist, and now they get their own book. In their lives they have faced almost every challenge imaginable, but how will they deal with old flames coming back into the picture? Join Kelly Thompson and Oscar Bazaldua as they bring us the tale of a modern marriage, only with superpowers.

New 7/22 – 7/28

X-Men: Grand Design – Second Genesis #1 – Piskor/Piskor

You wanted all-new, you wanted all-different. Now, watch as Wolverine, Thunderbird, Colossus, Storm and Sunfire suit up as X-Men for the very first time, all over again. All while Ed Piskor, researches, writes, pencils, colors and inks the book himself. It is truly a one man show worthy of your attention. The second act of Grand Design, begins now.

X-Men: Wakanda Forever #1 – Okorafor/Height

The sequel to Spider-Man: Wakanda Forever, Nnedi Okorafor is joined this time by Ray-Anthony Heights as they bring the Dora Miljae back to action. This time a former Miljae member and notable troublemaker Nakia a.k.a Malice has set a trap for Black Panther. Step one: Take out the Panther’s one true love, Storm. But, she didn’t account on her former warriors-in-arms stepping up. Can Okoye, Ayo, and Aneka stop Malice before she ruins their kings life, again?

Infinity Wars Prime #1 – Duggan/Deodato

Marvel hasn’t give up much on this book. It seems to be sort of like DC’s Injustice, but I could be wrong. Either way an amazing team of Gerry Duggan and Mike Deodato will give us gold. Before the Infinity Wars begin to rage comes this chapter of the cosmic saga. The ramifications of what happens between these pages will be felt throughout Infinity forever.
